    AIDS Healthcare Foundation is seeking a full-time, Authorization Coordinator to assist at our Managed Care Office located at the following address:


    1001 North Martel Avenue

    Los Angeles, California 90046


    Hours of Operations:  Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm


    Position Overview:

    Under the direction of the Manager of Care Coordination Programs, the Authorization Coordinator is responsible for projecting and integrating the Mission and Core Values of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) in the provision of quality medical subspecialty services to internal AHF medical providers and external LA County and contracted HIV/AIDS Medical Out Patient Providers (HMOP) and their referred patients.


    The Authorization Coordinator is responsible for applying the policies, processes and criteria of AHF and the CHAIN MSSP referral program in the provision of services to documented eligible clients in an accurate and timely manner according to the approved ordering Medical Provider’s order.



    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Includes the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

    • Develops and maintains current knowledge of the CHAIN policies, procedures and service
    • Answers questions and educates referring sites on MSSP process and required documentation to promote quality of
    • Processes Specialty Referral Forms; checks Specialty Referral Forms for accuracy and completeness, assures all necessary clinical data required for the referral is
    • Enters required data into authorization software accurately and
    • Reviews and monitors Specialty Referrals in Secured Fax logs or designated database; monitors status of referral to ensure timely
    • Adheres to DHSP measure of 5 day processing of all routine authorizations, 24hr review and 48 hr processing of all “urgent” Reports to Manager any referrals that have not met the required timeline.
    • Provides consultant address and phone number, authorization form and time frame for ,. Follows up within 30 days of authorization date with referred to provider to confirm client’s appointment.
    • Faxes completed Specialty Referral Form, laboratory results, patient information, test data, and doctor's notes to other physicians and patient service consultants as necessary and Assures that the consultant receives the referring provider’s contact information to facilitate the sending of the consult documentation to the provider and to AHF MSSR staff within 2 weeks of appt.
    • Follows up with consultant to obtain, test data, or consultant report from scheduled outside consultant appointments or Scans reports into CPS for AHF providers and flags ordering provider when consult documentation is received.


    Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees

    Attend Managed Care Staff Meeting, other AHF meetings as assigned.
