The Associate Director of Linkage Services oversees linkage programs across multiple jurisdictions and acts as a resource for Linkage Specialists, AHF testing and healthcare center staff and community partners with regard to linkage’s role in guiding an individual through the continuum of HIV care.

For Linkage to Care Specialists, the Associate Director proactively troubleshoots issues, acts as a liaison to other programs and departments, monitors progress to annual program goals, ensures adherence to policies and procedures and prepares reports in response to contract requirements, among other things. Associate Directors also liaise with testing staff and senior leadership in an effort to constantly improve a client’s experience once they receive a reactive result; this includes periodic case conferencing with testing and linkage staff and suggesting procedural changes to improve the referral process.

Referral of clients from linkage to the healthcare centers is the crux of linkage to care. Thus, the Associate Director regularly meets with healthcare center leadership and staff to continuously adapt and improve the process in order to be as responsive to client needs as possible. The Associate Director’s responsibilities also include assessing and refining the linkage program on a broader, multi-jurisdictional scale, identifying and developing relationships with like-minded partner institutions, as well as to continuously troubleshoot and refine the linkage process.

By supporting and mentoring Linkage the Care Specialists to provide compassionate and non-judgmental customer service while linking clients to care, the Associate Director for Linkage Services enables AHF to be of service to the community. They equip linkage staff with what they need to provide support to individuals at a critical and potentially overwhelming moment. The ultimate goal of AHF’s Linkage to Care Program is to assist clients through their HIV diagnosis and empower them to be proactive in taking care of themselves and protecting others.
