The Licensed Clinical Social Worker is responsible for projecting and integrating the Mission and Core Values of the organization within and outside the Mental Health Department.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Includes the following.  Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the Director of Mental Health.

 

  • Conducts a psychosocial assessment on all new clients; conducts additional follow-up assessments as required by regulation or deemed necessary by the healthcare team.
  • Provides crisis intervention counseling.
  • Provides short-term therapy as needed for individuals, groups, couples and/or families. Length of therapy will be determined in conjunction with the Director of Mental Health.
  • Assists the patient in prioritizing needs and coordinating referrals.
  • Advises, counsels and, when appropriate, assists the patient's support system in problem identification, analysis, suggestions for interventions and follow up plans.
  • Develops and tracks mental health treatment plans in conjunction with the Director of Mental Health.
  • Reports suspicions of child and/or adult abuse to the appropriate authorities according to statutes in collaboration with the Director of Mental Health, the patient's medical provider and AHF's General Counsel
  • Refers clients to the appropriate program or resource, and when required, assists clients in the enrollment process to access benefits.

Education and/or Experience:                                  
Master's degree (MSW)
Licensure as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California preferred

 

Other Qualifications:                          

  • Three years or more of inpatient mental health care experience desired.
  • Two years of clinical work, preferably with emphasis on chronically ill mental health patients desired.
  • Must be able to travel locally to HCCs.
  • Bilingual PREFERRED
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Refined mental health interview techniques.
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS related issues and concerns as they relate to the diverse populations. (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with general medical and psychiatric disorders seen in HIV infected persons, HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND), crisis intervention techniques and social/family systems.
  • An annual stipend for continuing education units (CEUs) and licensure renewal
