The Training and Development Specialist contributes to AHF by enhancing the knowledge, skills, and confidence of staff through intentional, culturally responsive training and capacity-building. This role supports AHF’s mission by designing, implementing, and evaluating staff development programs that align with prevention goals, compliance standards, and community engagement strategies. By ensuring staff are well-prepared to serve diverse populations—including LGBTQ+ communities, Latine clients, youth, and people impacted by HIV—the Training and Development Specialist helps improve service delivery, strengthen team performance, and promote equity across all levels of the department.

 

The Training and Development Specialist enhances the reputation of AHF by ensuring that staff are well-prepared, culturally competent, and confident in delivering high-quality services to the communities we serve. By creating impactful training programs rooted in equity, trauma-informed care, and public health best practices, this role helps foster a workforce that is both skilled and compassionate. AHF has a collaborative organizational structure where staff are accountable to multiple leaders.

 

The Training and Development Specialist will work as a part of a close-knit team to ensure that all staff across the Prevention Department are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to thrive in their roles. Collaborating closely with program managers, navigators, and outreach teams, this role helps identify training needs, respond to emerging challenges, and co-create learning opportunities that reflect our shared values of equity, inclusion, and excellence. By fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and staff empowerment, the Training and Development Specialist helps strengthen the overall capacity and cohesion of the team in service of AHF’s mission.
