The National Volunteer Manager – Food for Health contributes to AHF by  serving as the architect and leader of Food for Health’s national volunteer program. This role is responsible for building the infrastructure that enables volunteers to be safely, effectively, and consistently integrated into every Food for Health model—including pantries, Ryan White food banks, home delivery, hot meals programs, pop-up events, and disaster response.The National Volunteer Manager ensures that volunteer engagement is standardized, compliant, and scalable through the development and implementation of national onboarding, training, safety, and recognition frameworks. This role establishes clear pathways for recruitment, orientation, role placement, performance expectations, and retention, ensuring that volunteers are prepared to serve with professionalism and care.By owning the full volunteer lifecycle, this position relieves site staff of fragmented coordination responsibilities and transforms volunteer engagement into a strategic operational asset. The National Volunteer Manager works in close partnership with the Director and Associate Director of Food for Health, Regional Managers, and site leaders to align volunteer capacity with program needs, expansion plans, and

special initiatives.

 

The  National Volunteer Manager – Food for Health enhances the reputation of AHF by  ensuring that every volunteer experience reflects the organization’s values and standards. Through training, quality assurance, and thoughtful program design, this role guarantees that volunteers are equipped to provide consistent, respectful, and safe service across all locations. The National Volunteer Manager transforms volunteerism from an ad hoc function into a unified, national program that strengthens Food for Health’s impact and sustainability.

The  National Volunteer Manager – Food for Health will work as a part of a close-knit team to  collaborating closely with the Director of Food for Health, Associate Director, Regional Managers, and site teams nationwide. This role serves as the connective tissue between community engagement and operational excellence—aligning people, systems, and standards to ensure that Food for Health’s volunteer program is safe, scalable, and fully aligned with AHF’s mission.
