Responsibilities

 

  • Transports staff and volunteers for the purpose of HIV counseling, testing, mobilization, linkage, care and treatment activities and as directed by the supervisor;
  • Maintains safety standards during transportation of drugs and laboratory specimens;
  • Ensures timely transportation of laboratory specimens from the clinic and from other clinics or sites as prescribed;
  • Transports laboratory results from the laboratory to the relevant clinics in a timely manner;
  • Ensures on time delivery of drugs to clinics as assigned;
  • Loads and off-loads items into and out of the vehicle;
  • Transports guests from the airport and/or from any other point of departure and provide a welcome talk during the trip. Also, regularly drives the guests and returns departing guests to the airport as assigned;
  • Maintains vehicle logbook, accounting for all mileage and fuel consumption / costs. Minimizes fuel costs and does not permit anyone to drive the vehicle, unless authorized to do so;
  • Maintains cleanliness of the vehicle, including daily cleaning inside and weekly (minimum) car wash;
  • Maintains vehicle in good mechanical order, including oil and water, and completes and submits weekly log sheets to support this;
  • Reports repair needs and immediately arranges replacements immediately with the administration assistant / administration manager;
  • Ensure that the vehicle under his/her care is secured from loss or damage at all times;
  • Ensure that the vehicle is currently licensed;
  • Drives safely and responsibly at all times, must be knowledgeable about, and comply with South African driving /traffic and parking rules and regulations
  • Never drives the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, and observes the non-smoking rule in the vehicle at all times;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Matric, High School Certificate or one to three months related experience and/or training;
  • Possession of a Driver’s License (minimum Code 10) for at least 5 years;
  • PDP licence;
  • Previous driving employment, at least 2 years uninterrupted;

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common correspondences and communications;
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community;
  • Ability to effectively present information to team members in a clear and concise manner.

 

 Other desired skills:

  • Fluency in English and Spanish;
  • Ability to work under pressure and after hours.
