  • Keep abreast of government policy and sound knowledge and experience in HIV/TB management as part of a roving team, supports and complement pharmacy services in clinics
  • Dispensing of drugs and stock control
  • Supervises the pre-dispensing of pre-packed prescriptions for clients
  • Reviews prescriptions issued by providers or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy and clinical appropriateness
  • Prepares, fills and compounds drug orders
  • Supervises pharmacy personnel engaged in mixing, packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals
  • Answers questions and provides information to patients and providers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals
  • Maintains established policies and procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs
  • Manages appropriate data collection, such as client name, prescribed medication and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory
  • Performs monthly stock countsAssists the Pharmacy Manager in preparing quarterly drug forecasts
  • Communicates with relevant personnel at PHC sites to ensure timely delivery of pre-dispensed drugs
  • Provides Pharmacy Manager with statistical data as required
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises Pharmacist AssistantsCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AHF’s and SAG policies and applicable laws;
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
