Responsibilities

  • Conduct HIV testing in the van using rapid test kits
  • Coordinate with the Counselor in the testing van for pre- and post-test counseling
  •  Assist the Medical Officer in the provision of outpatient clinical care for PLHA registered in the AHF India Cares supported clinic in New Delhi when required.
  • Conducts client registration, intake and initial examination of all registered clients of AHF when required.
  • Uses test results and clinical assessment to determine type and stage of HIV and coordinate between testing team and medical officer in administering appropriate treatment protocols.
  • Maintain drug, test kit and condom inventory, and disburse medications to the client and/or staff according to MO prescriptions.
  • Perform all clinical tasks in the van following established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the “First Aid” and “Post Exposure Prophylaxis” activities in the van.
  • Perform group and one-on-one education specific to STD/HIV and other communicable disease.
  • Track and follow up all defaulters and missing clients/LFTU and maintain a monthly updated register for recording the same.
  • Networking with NGO’s who are working on health issues, government ICTC / ART Centers and private health providers to promote AHF center of excellence.
  • Documentation & Dissemination of Counseling information & related works.
  • Reporting for Meetings & other programs.
  • Supportive supervision for field activities by Outreach Team.
  • Ensuring better coordination between testing activities and clinic to ensure higher linkage to services.
  • Conducting home visits as and when required to provide required support to clients.
  • Assist the Prevention Coordinator in the management of day to day affairs.
  • Maintain all bio waste management protocols and safe disposal of waste generated in the clinic.
  • Ensure compliance to all personal safety measures during handling of clients.
  • Assess and identify nursing-related training and technical assistance needs.
  • Ensure attendance in all team meetings as required by the AHF management.
  • Participate in AHF Staff Meetings
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Prevention team and Country office.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise HIV testing of clients during outreach

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • ANM or GNM or equivalent qualification; registered with Nursing Council of the state;
  • At least one year hospital or outpatient nursing experience , especially in HIV treatment and care  is preferable.
  • Must have knowledge of general nursing principles and practice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-oriented disposition are required.
  • The incumbent must show initiative in identifying objectives, exercise good management practices and follow-through.
  • Must be cognizant of the laws surrounding patient privacy issues.
  • Must be a computer literate, proficient in MS Office.

 

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in English required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients

 

Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid passport and/or work permit.
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and related medical and patient care issues and concerns in diverse populations strongly preferred. 
  • Experience in Project Management / Implementation. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • Professional degree (ANM or GNM) and/or experience certificate
