  • Maintains standards for productivity set by AHF seeing a minimum of 14 patients per day (7 per ½ day session). Ensures compliance with standard by coordinating patient scheduling to compensate for no-show rate.


  • Completes chart documentation and bills for encounters within 48 hours of a visit. Regularly (at least weekly) reviews the list of unsigned notes and missing charges and promptly resolves.


  • All AHF providers practice HIV Primary Care, meaning that they are responsible for managing common primary care conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, hyperlipidemia, etc. Providers may seek the assistance of a specialist for complicated patients or when the management of the condition exceeds their own level of competence. In addition to chronic primary care conditions, providers are expected to manage respiratory tract infections, cuts/scrapes, burns, urinary tract infections, STIs and other common urgent care needs. No AHF provider, regardless of specialty, may limit themselves solely to HIV care.


  • Responsible for helping to oversee the medical support staff and ensuring efficient day-to-day clinic operations.


  • Works with nursing, care managers and front office staff to accommodate urgent care/walk- in patients


  • Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines (and in accordance with contractual obligations) and according to the Chief of Medicine or designee


  • Timely reviews laboratory test results, imaging reports, consultant notes, and other reports pertaining to assigned and cross coverage patient panel.


  • Authorizes refills for medications.


  • Completes SSI, Medicaid, ADAP and HRSA forms in a timely manner.


  • Reviews charts and performs peer reviews as assigned.


  • Participates in retention efforts including completion of 104-Day Reports



  • Provides supervision to mid-level providers and signs their charts as assigned.


  • Routinely checks emails (daily), voice mail (daily), returns phone calls and answers all “pages” within a timely fashion


  • Provides on-call coverage on rotation schedule.


  • When referring patients for hospital admission, provides up to date progress note, problem list, medication list, laboratory flow sheet to ER and/or admitting physician.


  • Achieves sufficient annual CMEs, as required, to maintain active medical credentials.


  • Schedules vacation time or conference leave at least 30 days in advance, and assists in making arrangements for own coverage. When other providers are off, assists with provider coverage as needed.


  • Calls the HCC Medical Director or designee and the Office Administrator with as much advance notice as possible for sickness and/or unplanned days off.


  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to provide coverage at other AHF sites as required


  • Completes (and maintains current) assigned Healthstream Trainings


  • Participates in the training of AHF HIV Fellows as well as other clinical trainees as designated by the Department of Medicine.


  • Provides backup coverage for multiple healthcare centers


Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees

  • Attends clinic all-staff meeting (monthly)
  • Attends Medical Staff meetings (every other month)
  • Attends and participates in Case Conference (monthly)



Supervisory Responsibilites

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AHF’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
