AIDS Healthcare Foundation is seeking a full-time, Healthcare Center Nurse Manager to assist at our Healthcare Center located at the following address:

Hours of Operations:  Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm


The Nurse Manager (NM), Healthcare Center (HCC) is responsible for working with the Director of Nursing, the Lead RN and the HCC Medical Director.  The NM is a member of the national nursing management team and is responsible for projecting and integrating the AHF Mission and Core Values of the organization, as well as AHF’s Management Philosophy in the nursing leadership of the HCCs.  The NM is a member of the HCC management team on level with the Office Manager and is responsible for all ‘back office’ functions and staff.  In the absence of the Office Manager, the NM is recognized as the clinical and operational manager. The NM provides direction to the HCC’s nursing staff regarding performance and provision of patient care services to achieve clinical excellence in accordance with internal and external requirements and standards. The NM supports a nursing environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care and education is promoted and achieved. 


The NM position balances the delivery of effective and efficient nursing care, and working relationships with other clinical disciplines.   


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Nurse Manager duties shall include, but not be limited to:



  • Assists in the development and implementation, with senior nursing leadership and in collaboration other Nurse Managers, the nursing direction for the Healthcare Centers
  • Provides input for developing programs and standards of nursing practice
  • Assumes responsibility for implementing programs and processes as defined with nursing management for programs to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and appropriateness of care delivered to patients in the HCCs in accordance with evidenced based standards and regulatory agencies
  • Supports a nursing management structure that provides the direction and support required to affect high quality patient outcomes and shares responsibility for the practice of nursing and consistency in the standards across the clinical settings 
  • Works with the senior nursing management to develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures for nursing services
  • Promotes teamwork, good interpersonal relations and communication among staff at the healthcare setting and corporate level
  • Ensures implementation of continuing education and staff development programs to enhance clinical practice and patient care
  • Collaborates with other NMs and with senior nursing management to implement strategic measures allowing better functioning of the HCCs
  • Attends and contributes to the regularly scheduled meetings with HCC Nurse Managers to exchange information, provide on-going support and problem resolution and collaborate on new/revised processes


  • Ensures that the nursing staff are functioning within defined nursing scope of practice for the LVN/LPNs and defined state laws and applicable Medical Board determinations for the Medical Assistants and in accordance with AHF policies and procedures.
  • Works with the nursing leadership to ensure that operational activities and initiatives are in compliance with the most current Federal, State and County regulations and contractual requirement
  • Complies with Risk Management / Safety standards and infection control standards


  • Assists in implementing patient centric care model for the Healthcare Centers
  • Participates in monitoring and reassessing performance targets for nursing services as developed by senior nursing management—patient visits, retention, no show, quality of care, and audit and Client Satisfaction surveys
  • Ensures staff review of nursing policy and procedure manual annually
  • Monitors patient flow/throughput timeliness—patient wait times during visits to ensure that customer service and satisfaction levels are at optimal levels.
  • Completes review of nursing staff documentation under the guidelines established by the AHF Nursing
  • Supports Quality Management Program and works with nursing leadership to define key quality indicators and apply those defined through contractual requirements.



  • Maintains clinical competency, as demonstrated in providing and directing patient care
  • Assists and communicates with medical staff concerning patient care issues (e.g., change in condition, refill requests, patient incidents).
  • Triage/assess walk-in patients or those calling for assistance
  • Participates in the case management of individual patients to ensure the continuity of care
  • Develops and oversees internal working systems relevant to the medical/nursing operations within a clinic setting
  • Produces required reports in a timely basis
  • Directs nursing care in a manner reflective of the philosophy of AIDS Healthcare Foundation
  • Provides education to patient and patient's personal support system in areas such as disease management, safe sex, etc.
  • Completes referrals as deemed necessary according to nursing staff assignments
  • Completes county reporting relative to provision of patient care


  • Supports and promotes nursing staff education program including onboarding processes and continuing education—anticipates additional educational needs
  • Provides nursing staff education for audit preparation
  • Provides and promotes education, oversight and support in completing functions that support Healthcare Center revenue and compliance adherence with managing Missing Charges
  • Provides education to nursing staff in healthcare procedures to promote quality patient outcomes
  • Promotes participation by nursing staff in AHF Surveys

HCC Operations

  • Reviews and adjusts FTE, salary, overtime and medical expenses budgets with nursing leadership, FTE, Ensures that operating expenses are well within the prescribed limits.
  • Oversees and controls supplies that directly impact patient care (e.g. ordering and charging stock medications, medical supplies and patient care equipment and/or supplies
  • Monitors budget variance reports
  • Reviews Healthcare Center weekly reports and provider productivity metrics
  • Participates in professional organizations and community activities as appropriate


Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees

  • Participates in AHF Nursing Services and Department of Medicine meetings as designated:
    • Nursing Department Staff meetings
    • Conducts nursing staff meetings
    • Attends Healthcare Center meetings


Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages all nursing staff.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning; assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
