Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Includes the following:
Understands and implements operating policies and procedures.
Educates local communities at risk for acquiring HIV about AHF testing services.
Conducts outreach a minimum of 10% of time including street and online outreach and additionally as assigned
Responsible for daily recruitment of test clients and actively seeks to engage OTC patrons and nearby community members in testing services throughout the workday
Administers rapid HIV tests utilizing finger-stick whole blood
Collects and processes specimen samples in accordance with National, State, and Local guidelines.
Provides health education and individual risk reduction counseling sessions.
Promotes healthy sexual behaviors and praises risk reduction plans adopted by clients.
Conducts test result disclosure and post disclosure counseling as needed and required.
Offer clients local community and medical referrals as needed
Explores partner recruitment and testing options with clients testing newly positive
Documents all required information for reporting purposes and adheres to AHF linkage protocol and policies
Responsible for achieving monthly goals as assigned
Responsible for maintenance of testing area including cleaning and sanitizing daily
Other duties may be requested as needed.
Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees
Attends testing counselors meeting.
Attends other meetings as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer/Software Skills & Abilities
Should have knowledge of Word Processing software.
Ability to read and interpret guidelines such as safety rules, universal precautions, operating and maintenance instructions, and program manuals. Ability to document extensive reports accurately. Ability to speak effectively in a group setting.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications
Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
Sensitivity to the issues surrounding HIV and AIDS.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Skill in communicating openly on sexual topics without prejudice.
Must be primarily available to work on weekday, evenings, and weekends.
Must have reliable transportation with liability insurance.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
Current HIV Pre and Post Test Counselor Certification.
Valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
Current Certification in Phlebotomy preferred.
