Responsibilities

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Discussing the objectives, requirements and budget of a project
  • Consulting with other professionals (engineers, contractors, furniture dealers, etc.) about design
  • Preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to management
  • Keeping within financial budgets and deadlines
  • Producing detailed working drawings and specifications
  • Specifying the nature and quality of materials required
  • Programming space requirements
  • Space planning
  • Select furniture and finishes
  • Code review
  • Maintain drawing archives
  • Preparing applications for planning and building control departments
  • Preparing presentations
  • Project managing and helping to coordinate the work of contractors
  • Controlling a project from start to finish
  • Site visits to check on progress, ensuring that the project is running on time and within budget
  • Resolving problems and issues that arise during construction

Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees

Attends AHF meetings as directed.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

BA required, Masters preferred. 7 – 10 years planning experience in all phases of architecture to include schematic design, design development and the ability to create a set of construction documents in AutoCAD, without assistance from concept to completion.  Detailing knowledge, experience with building departments and building codes.  Strong communication skills, including the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions, interact effectively to maintain a team environment and lead projects if necessary.

 

Computer/Software Skills & Abilities

Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel, Sketch Up Pro.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Reasoning Ability

Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-up and time management skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Strong visual awareness and an eye for detail
  • Have good drawing skills, with the ability to work in three dimensions (3D)

  • Reasonable mathematical skills

  • Logical, analytical and creative approach to problem solving

Travel
Some travel may be required as assigned.

 

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Architectural license preferred but not required.
