Amazing opportunity at WORLD an Affliate of the Aids HealthCare Foundation (AHF)

Does the idea of doing something that really makes a difference in people’s lives while being well-compensated intrigue you? Are you looking to work for an organization that encourages growth and success from each and every one of its employees?

If so, WORLD is the place for you!

Women Organized to Respond to Life-threatening Diseases (WORLD), an affiliate of AIDS Healthcare Foundation, is a diverse organization for, by, and about women living with, and at risk for, HIV/AIDS. WORLD improves the lives and health of women, girls, families and communities affected by HIV through peer-based education, wellness services, advocacy, and leadership development. We envision a world where women, girls, and families affected by HIV and AIDS have the tools, support and knowledge to live healthy and productive lives with dignity. Our vision is rooted in a commitment to human rights and wellness with the understanding that this includes freedom from violence; access to housing; quality healthcare; food security; physical, spiritual and emotional wellbeing; education and economic justice.

STILL INTERESTED? Please continue!   WORLD is seeking a Policy and Advocacy Manager  to join the team at the WORLD office located in Oakland, California. The office hours are Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm.

The Policy & Advocacy Manager is responsible for developing and executing the agency’s policy and advocacy strategies. WORLD seeks to hire a 32 hour Advocacy Manager who will lead and coordinate our advocacy efforts which include training HIV positive women to speak publically concerning their unique experience in living with HIV. They will also advocate publically for gender-focused policies and services and programs that can positively impact their health and lives, as well as their peers living with and at risk for HIV.

The Policy & Advocacy Manager will work to shape and strengthen the agency’s advocacy platform; expand agency presence in national women’s coalitions and build alliances beyond the field of HIV and work closely with local, regional and national women’s health, human rights, social justice and women and HIV networks and organizations.
