    Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the primary responsibilities of this role will include but is not limited to providing leadership to the healthcare center staff with regards to healthcare plan quality improvement by continuous measuring the improvement of our healthcare center operations.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to lead and excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented culture with the motivation to become an integral part of a rapidly growing organization.


    Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.


    • Provides oversight and participates in AHF clinical trials as a Principal Investigator, as assigned.
    • Begins assigned clinics on time.
    • Maintains productivity standard set at 7 patients per ½ day clinic.      
    • Ensures compliance with standard by coordinating patient scheduling to compensate for no-show rate
    • Works with nursing, care managers and front office staff accommodate urgent care/walk- in patients
    • Reviews laboratory test results, imaging reports, consultant notes, and other reports pertaining to assigned and cross coverage patient panel.
    • Authorizes refills for medications.
    • Completes diagnosis forms, applications for SSI, Medi-Cal and HRSA forms in a timely manner.
    • Reviews charts and performs peer reviews as assigned.
    • Provides supervision to mid-level providers and signs their charts as assigned.
    • Provides on-call coverage on rotation schedule.
    • When referring patients for hospital admission, provides up to date progress note, problem list, medication list, laboratory flow sheet to ER and/or admitting physician.
    • Achieves sufficient annual CMEs, as required, to maintain active medical credentials. Fulltime providers are allotted up to 5 days of paid CME time yearly, and an educational stipend of $2500 yearly, as approved by the Chief of Medicine. (CME days and educational stipend pro-rated based on part-time hours.)
    • Schedules vacation time or conference leave at least 30days in advance, and assists in making arrangements for own coverage. When other providers are off, assists with provider coverage as needed.
    • Participate in the training of AHF HIV Fellows as well as other clinical trainees as designated by the Department of Medicine.


    Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees

    • Attends clinic all-staff meeting (monthly)
    • Attends California Regional Medical Staff meetings (every other month)
    • Attends and participates in Case Conference/Journal Club meetings (monthly)
    • Attends HIV Intercity Rounds (Optional)

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AHF’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
